Apple "Lion": due on Wednesday via app store would 1330 BST you fit?

X 10.7. real soon now come Apple OS.
During its earnings conference call, Apple confirmed that the next version will be released by Lion, OSX 10.7, on Wednesday. It is expected that it 1330 BST made available.
Since it through the app store, what means that the release can simultaneously be all over the world - and not, as in the past happened, comes at different times depending on store openings or early deliveries over the parcel services. For marketing people, like in the Apple, it is a dream come true.
Note that you can update only the lion, if you are already running OSX 10.6.7 10.6.8. You should also run software update first to ensure that you have published the latest Migration Assistant, overnight.
You should also, and you always back up. The download is about 4 GB.
We have a quick preview of what to expect from Lion - done and if you tuned stay then we need a full review, as soon as possible.
Previously: Apple's Mac OS X Lion could arrive next Thursday: here's what to expect.
Once again, the upgrade costs $29.99 or £ 20.99 in the United Kingdom. Lion requires at least 2 GB RAM and an Intel Core 2 Duo, core i3, core i5, core i7 and Xeon processor - what does it mean that is now compatible with Apple computers, the Mac mini from late 2006 with the exception.
And did we mention, that first a backup should you make?
(Of course we were thing wrong on the Thursday, how, that passed last week.) But we are sure it will be published.)

Yahoo revenue slides to lowest since 2005: Woolworths of the network?

It is not good for Yahoo search.

Its latest financial results showed falling sales and earnings, which were largely on the stalling of display advertising business in the second quarter of 2011.
Historically applied, all terminal begins search. Total revenue has not been this low since the second quarter of 2005, and superimposed strategic with Yahoo trains specified by the tech media, back to the tech and then return to the media recently – such as Ross Levinsohn. This graph shows the familiar decline.
Google revenue (red) vs. Yahoo revenue (blue) - 1996 Q1, Q2 2011
Display advertising was once Yahoo's core business and how it could rely on the use. Repeated executive moves, low morale and a revenue-sharing agreement in search with Microsoft all have sucked the success of the company. Yahoo is now given back and display - not just some serious effort from Google just his rival benefit from the growth in advertising, Yahoo now sold on the display, but also Facebook, the % increased has its display ad CPC-74 in the last 12 months. (We can't plot Facebook's sales here, because it is a private company, but you can bet that it is another of the places gone, that Yahoo lost revenue to.)
Yahoo shares at the end of the day U.S. but fell an hour was back.
Second quarter of 2011:
• Turnover without traffic acquisition costs [it has made on websites for traffic the amount, the Yahoo numbers] amounted to $1. 076bn by 5% year on year.
• Net income amounted to 237 million $ of $213 m in the second quarter of 2010.
• Display advertising revenue increased by 2% from Q2 2010, although it had seen growth of 6% in the first quarter.
• Search revenue fell to 371 m $ 15% over last year.
By analysts:
• Zacks.com: "Zack's despite some optimism about growth in search advertising revenue, acknowledges that Carol Bartz' turnaround plan is moving very slowly."There are a few factors that will probably work against it. The first is the market in the small the growing importance of the Google ad network that constantly extended to medium-sized enterprises and enabled it to oust Yahoo! as the greatest player in the entire display ad market. We think, it is limited to satisfaction in the fact, that Yahoo is well positioned on the big players remains. "Seems the writing on the wall."
• Clayton Moran of benchmark in Florida: "it's almost hard to believe, they can continue the road which we had thought to disappoint expectations pretty weak, but they have done."
• Ben Schachter of the Macquire research: "they try to fix a lot a problems that need to be addressed, but how they address these issues unfortunately to dive new."
What is the solution?
Carol Bartz (since January 2009 in the top job) is the time to prove that Yahoo in terminal decline not running. Each passing Quartal-in the midst of increasingly negative reports - cuts its staff, executive changes, sales (goodbye delicious, owned by the boys, the YouTube created today) and seem to make no difference, not at all ambitious statements regarding the strategic direction of the company. That search/advertising deal with Microsoft is also not helping; Yahoo rebuked outright for pull down its revenue numbers due to the share has give Microsoft.
You can bet that plans are pretty advanced behind the scenes for fragmented Yahoo's new Ireland - namely his 43% stake in Chinese e-commerce group, Alibaba, high profile photo sharing site Flickr and the sale of advertising infrastructure. The question disappeared, as soon as the are, what's left, and, where any value once? Yahoo seems now only good for attracting eyeballs, but there are low-value. It has become the Woolworths in the Internet.
At $14.59 per share floating, schwindelnd those days of February 2008 as Jerry Yang proud for this offer, Yahoo buy now $31 per share or $44 billion headed. It now seems something of a Pyrrhic victory.

An Apple retail store in China? No, fake: "I know you guys are laughing: an Apple store in Kunming?" Nobody who know me personally not ever of Kunming plans belongs. Kunming is the end of the Earth. It is true - everything but in earnest, China distorts your mind to believe that anything is possible if you stay here long enough. That could happen.
"You have already guessed the punch line, of course: this was a total Apple store ripoff." A beautiful ripoff - a brilliant one - the best ripoff stores we had ever seen (and we see them every day). Boot-up: iPad predicted, Google "knew Oracle violation", Flickr + Twitter =?, and much more

It's raining iPads! No, possibly not. Bert Foord during TV weather forecast by the Meteorological Office in 1963.
A burst of 8 links for you to chew over, as picked by the technology team
""When you visit an unfamiliar location, Google maps is get a performance for mobile phones great for thereof, or only for getting you are as close to your destination, where streets and places of interest in relation to each other,"un-lost." But what if you do not have a data signal, or you are abroad and have no data plan? We say that if you use Google maps for mobile, you need never again to wear a paper card to. ""Download map area"lab in Google maps is 5.7 for Android a step in that statement true make, even if you are offline."
Neat.
"" It"is possible", that Google knew, that its Android mobile operating system would Oracle Java patents violate, but decided, with the effort anyway, head judge supervision of intellectual property entities said action in a letter Tuesday filed."Judge William Alsup gave the explanation in connection with the so-called Daubert motion, the Google in the hope of the results of Oracle has filed damage experts without. "Both sides have submitted briefs in relation to a hearing on the motion, which is scheduled for July 21."When reading the Daubert briefing, it is possible that Google would be recognized at an early stage that there patents protect hurting at least part of Java, entered into negotiations with Sun [Microsystems] a license for use in Android,? then the negotiations as too expensive and pressed home with Android without any license at all, given up, "Alsup wrote in the letter in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California filed. "Hmm."
Iconfactory (the Twitterrific does) already has an extension. This is all for good play.
"This is an artifact of population density and Flickr and Twitter users." What is more interesting but are outside of the city of blue and orange dominates. For example, will be in the North America map above, in the East of blue, while in the West seems more orange dominated. "What compels people Tweet about take a picture and vice versa?" Very entertaining to read slightly missed the point as well.
This is a pretty wide variety, but the average is 7.93 m (the median 8.09 m.) In any case, it more than twice the 3.2 m sold is its first quarter a year ago.
Is interesting, like HP, with its large company offers taken is worse than the industry average.

Skype calls Facebook: a win-win-win

Mark Zuckerberg was OK, jaunty form for last night presentation on Facebook new features. He is probably more and sound looked more fluid than ever, rattles from an anecdote about a comment form an older neighbors, which would put in a request for video calls. Tick!

• First - integrated the most important announcement of Skype call. The timing is absolutely right. Mainstream both enough to major take two of the biggest names in the consumer Web services, to and at a time as consumers finally begin that have to overcome inhibition about talking to their computers. Zuckerberg of the anecdote about the older neighbors illustrated that, but I also know that if my mother 'do a Skype' speaks, that this really must have hit the mainstream.

Facebook shows his new integrated Skype function
• Zuckerberg attempted a rather rough, of which growth figures may distract stalling. Active monthly unique users is no longer the metric of choice on Facebook towers, he would like us to believe. He said that, despite confirmed that Facebook has reached now 750 million users, so that added 250 m in less than a year. The volume of the shared parts of the content is certainly as Facebook achieved this objective a billion finally monthly active users will again be University events, but until then, Zuckerberg believe us, that wants a better representation of the activity on Facebook. And that is to double 4 every day from this time last year.

• From the back of this explosion in the load sharing, Zuckerberg, that to support growth, Facebook would be mentioned more data centers, after it opened for the first time in April of this year. No more detail, but he said: "we are definitely this trend now where it makes sense for us given the scale of use and the information that flows through the network, where we're probably going to build our own data centers, rather than leasing."

• He made several subtle but interesting digs at Google, reinforce its strategy to describe Facebook as the standard sent social infrastructure of the Web on which all other services will provide its social elements. Standard MySpace friend Tom Anderson has a good post on Google +, which Zuckerberg published comments on Google, but it is also worth mentioning that Zuckerberg Google + experiment with social tools described as just another company. With a touch of humility, Zuckerberg, admitted that if not innovatively to keep Facebook, it will be a variety of social infrastructure companies, taking his place.

• To the press calling for the presentation, I asked what looks like the agenda for the development of this function, could in particular specified mobile such as exciting Skype calls within Facebook applications.

"Our philosophy is the best experience for people to build on Facebook and we many want this experience, once we that can create", said Peter Deng, Facebook video call project manager.

"I was part of the original team built the Facebook chat 2007, and in the course of time we have more features, observed how people use the service added what they like and don't like, what are the right move to make…. rather, it is an iterative process [as a planned Roadmap] if we do product development." We try to next features out, as soon as possible, but understand how people use these products first.

"We have no timeline, now to announce, but we are working on improvements already."

Video calls on mobile by the Facebook app would be a direct competitor of Apple's FaceTime (still think is the terrible name), but to initiate with a powerful social driver, calls from within Facebook. Making the video entertainment so convincingly from within Facebook but what said, I think that many people thoroughly check the same reaction as me - and clean you your Facebook contacts might have. Floating profile thumbnails and education of the video chat option made me realize how little I really to talk about what had these contacts! If we have spoken since school not, it's probably a reason. But that's for another day.

• From the analysts:
The egg Eden ZOLLER said that Facebook/Skype a blow to Google and Google + meeting point is. "We expect the Facebook video chat service, to develop a strong mobile game, given the fact that at least half of Facebook users with the social network of mobile interact and also because Microsoft on Skype is determined in this direction." "A deepening, Facebook, Microsoft and Skype Alliance is on the cards and is a powerful view, and one by Google will wake up at night."

Frost & Sullivan's Jake Wengroff noted on Twitter that as numbers is unlikely, only 6% of Skype users for services, the tie-up that someone all to make money. It concerns strategic alliances. "I see it as a way for MSFT, Skype new owner, a path with FB work find."

Colin gills on BGC said it $8 billion confirms Microsoft's acquisition of Skype: "helps explain the purchase praise is to drive this business Facebook Ubiquity for Skype."
